Mykonos

mykonos-mapMykonos (Greek: Μύκονος) belongs to the complex of the Cyclades island, situated in the Aegean Sea in Greece and lies between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. The closest island to Mykonos is Delos, one of the most important mythological, historical and archaeological sites in Greece. The island features no rivers, but numerous seasonal streams and its ground is rocky with low vegetation. The traditional architecture of Mykonos is the most typical example of the Cyclades islands. The sun is shining almost all year round and there are two seasonal winds, the Sirocco and the Meltemi. In Greece, it is also known as the island of the winds. Mykonos is the most cosmopolitan island of Cyclades and it is worldwide famous for its nightlife. The beautiful organized beaches, the restaurants and bars and the luxurious accommodation make Mykonos an ideal touristic destination offering all sorts of entertainment. Some of the most famous places in the island are Chora, the capital of Mykonos,  Little Venice, Super Paradise beach, Psarou beach, Panormos beach and Platis Gialos. The Archaeological Museum of Mykonos, the Aegean Maritime Museum and the Paraportiane Church are some of the sights with great significance.
