Travelling between Greece and Syria is set to become easier this winter, with AEGEAN introducing a new direct connection between Athens and Damascus.
The new service will begin on 2 December 2026, connecting the Greek capital with Damascus International Airport and giving passengers a direct option between the two cities for the first time as part of AEGEAN’s network.
Flights will operate up to four times a week throughout the winter season, with services scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The new route provides greater flexibility for travellers between Greece and Syria, while also strengthening Athens’ connections with the wider Middle East.
For AEGEAN, the addition of Damascus forms part of its continued international network development, with the airline focusing on expanding connections from Athens to destinations across neighbouring regions. The route also adds another Middle Eastern destination to the carrier’s growing international network.
The airline is looking beyond the Middle East as well. Direct services to Tripoli and Benghazi in Libya are planned for May 2027, although their launch remains subject to the completion of the necessary assessments and regulatory procedures.
AEGEAN is also preparing to restore an existing regional connection, with Athens–Dubai flights scheduled to resume on 23 October 2026.
For travellers based in Greece, the new Damascus service adds another direct option for reaching the Syrian capital, while for visitors arriving through Athens, it further highlights the Greek capital’s role as a convenient gateway between Europe and the surrounding region.
With the Athens–Damascus route taking off in December, AEGEAN is continuing to reshape its international network with new and returning connections that expand the range of destinations accessible directly from Greece.
